A nursing career shouldn’t be limited by how difficult the system is to navigate.
“More options are useful only when you can make sense of them.”
Nurse practitioners have more ways to practice than ever, but making sense of those opportunities isn’t always straightforward. Licensure varies by state. A high hourly rate may look very different once unpaid work and contractor expenses are considered. Credentialing information lives everywhere. And figuring out what comes next often means piecing together information from dozens of sources.
I created The Multistate NP to make that process easier to navigate.
The goal is practical: help NPs understand their options, use their credentials strategically, evaluate opportunities more clearly, and keep the professional infrastructure behind their careers organized.

Clinical Practice
My work has included emergency and urgent care, primary care, metabolic medicine, and telehealth.
Multistate Practice
Working across state lines showed me how quickly licensure, prescribing, credentialing, and practice requirements become difficult to manage.

Teaching undergraduate and graduate nursing keeps education central to how I build resources: useful, evidence-informed, and understandable.

My Path Here
My career started at the bedside as an ER and ICU technician before I became a nurse. I later worked in emergency nursing, including travel assignments in large trauma centers, before becoming a family nurse practitioner.
Since then, my work has expanded across urgent care, primary care, metabolic medicine and multistate telehealth. Alongside clinical practice, I’ve taught undergraduate nursing and now teach at the graduate level.
Moving between those settings changed how I thought about an NP career. Licensure became more than paperwork. Teaching became another way to use an advanced degree. Different employment models changed how I evaluated compensation. And working across settings made it obvious how fragmented the administrative side of healthcare careers can be.
The Multistate NP grew out of that experience.

State licensure and practice resources prioritize boards of nursing, licensing agencies, statutes, regulations and other primary sources. Requirements are reviewed periodically, dated when appropriate, and unresolved conditions remain visible rather than being presented as settled guidance.
