Stage

Nevada: APRN, initial licensure

Prepare the state-specific education, certification, application and practice documents below. Separate prescribing approvals appear under Prescriptive Authority and State Rx / CS.

  1. NP application checklist

Apply to the nursing board using the standard or eligible out-of-state endorsement pathway. Hold qualifying RN authority and document NP preparation and accepted national certification. The statutory endorsement route requires a corresponding unrestricted APRN license elsewhere. Prescribing authorization and the Pharmacy Board controlled-substance registration remain separate from nursing licensure.

    Timing
    Before initial state authorization
    Conditions
Standard NP application. Additional documents apply to international education, reentry, discipline, name changes and other nonstandard routes.
  2. NP practice and prescribing

APRNs may provide authorized diagnosis and treatment within scope. Schedule II prescribing requires at least two years OR 2,000 hours of clinical experience, or a protocol approved by a collaborating physician.

    Timing
    During practice
    Conditions
The experience condition specifically concerns Schedule II drugs. Nursing and pharmacy authorization requirements still apply.
  3. 2 Years OR 2,000 clinical hours

This threshold concerns Schedule II prescribing. Before qualifying, an approved collaborating-physician protocol is required. The alternatives are not cumulative.

    Timing
Before independent practice or prescribing, as specified
    Conditions
Clinical practice hours are not continuing-education hours. Board approval may be required.

Coverage and conditions

  • Use the checklist for the standard NP route. International education, reentry, military pathways, older educational exceptions and disciplinary history can require additional board documents. Submit the board’s current application; this site does not submit it for you.
